Our story

Your hearing, our passion

We set up The Clevedon Hearing Clinic, within The Hearing Clinic Group, to give Clevedon and North Somerset hearing care that's independent and personal.

We're not a national chain and we're not tied to one manufacturer, so what we recommend is only ever about you. More than 4,000 patients have trusted us with their hearing so far. Most of them are neighbours, and we treat them that way.

Asa Richards, HAD, leads clinical care and is a member of the British Society of Hearing Aid Audiologists (BSHAA). In 2019, Asa was selected for the Demant Stars Academy, recognising just 80 hearing care professionals worldwide.

Clinical Director

Asa Richards

Asa has spent over a decade in audiology: as a clinical director for a multinational hearing care provider, as a clinical lecturer training the next generation, and now running two independent clinics of his own. He’s HAD qualified, HCPC registered, and a member of BSHAA. In 2019 he was chosen for the Demant Stars Academy, a global programme that selects just 80 hearing care professionals worldwide. He founded The Chepstow Hearing Clinic in 2022 and The Clevedon Hearing Clinic in 2023; together they’ve now cared for more than 8,000 patients.

Stephen Dymond

With over a decade in audiology and the HAD qualification and BSHAA membership behind him, Stephen has guided hundreds of patients from their very first hearing test through to fitting and long-term aftercare. Patients consistently single out his calm, unhurried manner and his knack for explaining exactly what’s happening with their hearing, in plain terms they actually remember.

Cora runs the Clevedon clinic day to day, bringing over a decade of customer-facing expertise honed in the retail industry. She’s usually the first voice you’ll hear on the phone and the first face you’ll see walking in, and she takes real pride in making sure that from the moment you get in touch, everything feels effortless.

Kimberley Richards

Kimberley has been part of the team since The Clevedon Hearing Clinic launched in 2023, drawing on a background in design and teaching to shape everything from the branding to the website to the clinic’s day-to-day communications. Her work ensures the standard of care you experience in person is exactly what you see reflected online.

Locum Receptionist

Graeme Steele

Graeme has been part of The Hearing Clinic Group since 2022, bringing a background spanning insurance, IT and Pure and Applied Mathematics to a role that’s anything but predictable. He covers reception across both the Chepstow and Clevedon clinics, solves whatever technical problem arises, and has assembled furniture on more than one tight deadline. Dependable and dryly funny, he is a steady presence for patients and colleagues alike.

Rebecca Smith

Rebecca brings over 20 years of clinical experience from the dental industry, where she rose to Dental Nurse Trainer before moving into hearing care. She now works closely alongside Asa and Stephen throughout every appointment, bringing a calm, experienced presence that keeps patients informed, reassured and completely at ease.

We're one of two clinics in The Hearing Clinic Group, founded by our Clinical Director Asa Richards. Chepstow opened first, in 2022, followed by The Clevedon Hearing Clinic in 2023.

Both clinics share the same founder and the same clinical standards, which means unhurried appointments, honest advice and no ties to any hearing aid manufacturer. Together the clinics have supported over 8,000 patients across South Wales and the South West.

Who is Asa Richards?

How long has The Clevedon Hearing Clinic been open?

Since 2023. Our sister clinic in Chepstow opened in 2022, and together the two clinics have supported over 8,000 patients.

Is the clinic independent?

Yes. We're family-run and independent, part of The Hearing Clinic Group, with no ties to any single hearing aid manufacturer.

Are you registered and regulated?

Our Hearing Aid Dispensers are HCPC-registered and members of the British Society of Hearing Aid Audiologists (BSHAA).

How do I choose between hearing aid brands?

We fit hearing aids from all the leading manufacturers, so during your free hearing test we talk through which brand suits your hearing loss, lifestyle and budget rather than steering you towards one. There's no commission tied to any single brand.

What's the difference between an independent clinic and a chain?

Some chains are owned by a hearing aid manufacturer, so it is worth asking which brands they supply. We are family-run, part of The Hearing Clinic Group, and fit all leading brands, including ReSound, Starkey, Oticon, Phonak, Bernafon and Signia.

Do you offer payment plans for hearing aids?

Yes, we can discuss payment options during your consultation. Ask the team when you book, or when you come in for your free hearing test.
